Abstract
This chapter explains the emerging landscape of educational leadership knowledge based in the Southeast Asia region, which is usually called the Muslim archipelago. Historical, political and socio-cultural forces form a unique Islamic identity in this region, which resulted in different practices and thinking about Islamic educational leadership. Based on empirical and theoretical perspectives from peer-reviewed journal articles, the study has found that different countries in this region have salient emphasis. The influence of Western theories still has an effect, at the same time, each country was trying to formulate unique Islamic thinking about educational leadership, whereas each country’s development situation also reflecting kind of Islamic educational leadership is practiced in their school institutions.
