Item Open Access Renewable energy consumption and its role in driving green economic growth in BRICS nations(International Research Alliance for Sustainable Development, 2025-03-22) Saboor, Abdul; Manzoor, Zainab; Rehman, AbdulIn recent years, a significant boost in environmental degradation has been seen globally. This change in the environment not only disturbs the lifestyle of the people but also impacts the economic conditions of the nations. For this aim, green economic growth (GEG) is introduced that balances economic growth and environmental dynamics. GEG not only escalates economic growth but also preserves the usage of natural resources that help to mitigate environmental degradation and provide a better living standard to future generations. For this purpose, this research explored the impact of renewable energy sources (REC), GDP per capita (GDPC) and trade openness (TOS) on the GEG in the BRICS countries by taking the annual data from 1995 to 2021. The outcomes are concluded by using the PMG-ARDL. The PMG-ARDL is appropriate due to its uniqueness by combining the long run-homogeneity and the short-run heterogeneity in the panel data sets and making it ideal to analyze the relationship in the heterogeneous panels. The outcomes from PMG-ARDL stated a positive and significant relationship between REC, GDPC and TOS on GEG in the long run. While seeing the short-run findings, TOS and GDPC have a significant while REC has an insignificant relationship with GEG in BRICS nations. Considering these outcomes, BRICS nations should make strict policies and regulations to enhance sustainable, green and eco-friendly production practices that enhance the usage of RECC, TOS and GDPC; this contributes toward sustainable development i.e. GEG.Item Open Access The nexus of ESG score and stock return : evidence from the LQ45 index(Universitas Pasundan, 2024-12-31) Syamsi Mustofa Singgih Prayogo; Rizky WisnoentoroThe objective of this study is to examine the relationship between Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) aspects and the return on stock performance in Indonesia. This paper presents Nestle Waters' approach to ethical encounters in extraction of water, focusing on native rights, expired licenses, and security of water. It argues that open communication, compliance oaths and assurance, and community alliance are systematic solutions to these problems. The investigation now turns its attention to Nespresso and the premium coffee industry's waste management and aluminum consumption issues. Nespresso may benefit from a more methodical approach if the company would only establish some definite long-term objectives, encourage more partnerships, educate its customers better, and put more money into environmentally friendly packaging. These initiatives not only address pressing issues, but also help Nestle achieve its long-term sustainability objectives, which will set it apart as an industry leader in ethical business practices.Item Open Access Evaluating the impact of zakat on inclusive growth towards poverty reduction in Nusa Tenggara Timur(Akademi Zakat, 2024-09-04) Majid, Ruwaida Mohamed; Gissay, AmadouThis study examines the effectiveness of zakat distribution in Nusa Tenggara Timur, Indonesia, with a particular emphasis on how it affects access to basic services and the decrease of poverty for the period 2013-2022. Data was obtained from BPS Statistics Indonesia and Baznas National Zakat Statistics and analyzed using ordinary least squares regression model. The study finds that zakat distribution amounts significantly increase the number of poor people in Nusa Tenggara Timur. This result highlights structural problems with zakat institutions, such as poor institutional support, ineffective regulations, and problems with data administration. Second, the study shows that the fraction of households that get basic services is negatively impacted by the distribution of zakat. This implies that the ways in which zakat is distributed is not sufficient to promote inclusive growth, which might lead to the continuation of poverty cycles. The study underscores the necessity of implementing reforms in the zakat distribution, and reporting procedures. BAZNAS must implement complete digital solutions for transparent money tracking and effective distribution if they are to optimize the impact of zakat on poverty reduction. To enhance resource mobilization and distribution, private sector participation in zakat collection and cooperation with local governments are recommended.Item Open Access A Bibliometric analysis of green sukuk literature(Center for Islamic Economics Studies and Development, Faculty of Business and Economics, Universitas Islam Indonesia, 2024-09-12) Syamsi Mustofa Singgih Prayogo; Aji Raditya; Sarea, AdelPurpose – The objective of this study is to provide a comprehensive analysis of the current body of literature on green sukuk. Design/methodology/approach – This study using simulation approach to calculate the monthly installments for home financing using gold price references. In simple terms, propose a financing formula in the BBA contract by converting the selling price of the house to the gold price, and then the monthly installments also follow the actual gold price. The authors provide an example by simulating this formula using historical data and cases of housing financing at Indonesian Islamic banks. The authors compare housing financing models based on gold prices and interest rates. Finally, The authors can compare the two housing financing models that are affordable for low-income people. Findings – The results show that in the initial period, monthly installments of BBA based on gold price were lower than home financing based on interest rate. This result makes it possible for low-income people who cannot access financing based on interest rates to access financing based on gold price. However, the total installments of financing based on gold prices are higher than the financing model based on interest rates. Research limitations/implications – The paper confines one contract, namely, BBA, as it is claimed to be more Shariah-compliant than others. Practical implications – These findings suggest an alternative model for Islamic banks and regulatory authorities in Indonesia to replace the interest rate reference with the gold price in BBA contract housing financing. This model can offer competitive advantages for Islamic banks, including lower initial installments and inflation-protected profits, serving as a means of differentiating them from conventional banks. Social implications – Gold price-based housing financing model in Islamic banks will increase the affordability of housing financing for low-income people. Originality/value – This paper tries to solve two problems, namely, first, the problem of assuming that Islamic and conventional banks are the same, and second, the problem of housing finance affordability. This study needs to be explored.Item Open Access The sustainable waste management using blockchain technology in ASEAN nations; case study of Indonesia(International Relations Study Program, Faculty of Social Science and Global Studies, Universitas Budi Luhur, 2024-07-31) Saboor, AbdulThis article discusses the scope and limitations of waste management in ASEAN countries, such as overflowing landfills and weak infrastructure.
